Healthy Enough 237-Person Nutrition & Exercise Pilot

A first look at whether people keep using Healthy Enough, and keep their scores up, when a professional is watching the dashboard. This is a pilot, not a randomised controlled trial, and it does not show that Healthy Enough treats or prevents any disease.

Overview

The Healthy Enough pilot included 237 participants who used HE-Food and HE-Move and were monitored through the professional dashboard.

Purpose

To observe adherence: whether participants stayed in the programme and kept both daily scores at a meaningful level.

To be supplied. Content in preparation: The full statement of aims will be added by James Behrens. Nothing here has been filled in with assumed or invented information.

Participants

237 participants took part.

To be supplied. Content in preparation: Recruitment, eligibility and demographics will be added by James Behrens. Nothing here has been filled in with assumed or invented information.

Healthy Enough Intervention

Participants used both Healthy Enough apps.

HE-Food

Daily food logging and a food score reflecting diet quality, nutrients and portions.

HE-Move

A daily movement score from movement, aerobic exercise, strength, flexibility and balance.

Professional Dashboard Monitoring

Participants were monitored through the professional dashboard. Participants whose Food or Move scores began trending downward could be identified for follow-up.

To be supplied. Content in preparation: Follow-up frequency and who conducted it will be added by James Behrens. Nothing here has been filled in with assumed or invented information.

Adherence Definition

The predefined adherence criterion required participants to remain in the programme and maintain both Food and Move scores of at least 70%.

To be supplied. Content in preparation: The study duration and how scores were averaged will be added by James Behrens. Nothing here has been filled in with assumed or invented information.

Results

67% of participants met the adherence criterion.

To be supplied. Content in preparation: Additional outcomes, if any were measured will be added by James Behrens. Nothing here has been filled in with assumed or invented information.

What We Learned

Monitoring both scores made it possible to see who was slipping while there was still time to follow up.

To be supplied. Content in preparation: Further interpretation will be added by James Behrens. Nothing here has been filled in with assumed or invented information.

Study Limitations

  • This was a pilot, not a randomised controlled trial; there was no comparison group described here.
  • Adherence is not the same as a health outcome; the result does not show treatment or prevention of disease.
  • The 67% figure should not be compared directly with unrelated studies.

To be supplied. Content in preparation: Further limitations will be added by James Behrens. Nothing here has been filled in with assumed or invented information.
